What I wore... Christmas day!

If you read my last post you'll know that I spend Christmas day with my dad and his family and boxing day with mum and hers and this year was no different.

-With me,when I fall in love with a piece of clothing,I will keep wearing it! So I wore the same outfit on both of the days.
This is it below..

Dress- River Island £34.99 necklace - Dorothy Perkins (unknown price)

With this I wore some plain 80 denier tights,my brown river island brogues and a big camel knitted cardie also from Dorothy Perkins.

I love this outfit and although it was quite classy,i thought it was great to wear over Christmas.

I also went shopping yesterday and brought quite a lot of things which I feel kinda bad for doing so,but I hardly spent anything! Anyhow,i'll let you all know what I got tomorrow(:

What I did This Christmas Time...

This year was one of my favourite christmases so far! Every year, I spend christmas day with my dad + his family and boxing day with my mum + her family. So this year, I woke up at mums so we could open our presents and then went to dads later on and opened presents at his - I'll let you know what I got in a christmas haul post which will most likely be up tomorrow. Then all my dad's family came round and we had a lovely christmas dinner with creme brule for dessert. We then opened all the family presents and had a go on rockband on the wii as usual, with my very bad singing to accompany it! After that, we had some turkey sandwiches and chocolate as that is a normal thing to do in our family! I headed off to bed at about eleven after having a play around with the bits I got.

The next day was boxing day and to me, the two days role into one because one is spent with mum and the other with dad and to me they are both equally important and special. I went to mum's at twenty past eleven to be precise! We then headed off to a local restaurant to have a meal with the whole eighteen of us! I have many cousins, but my (shh.. favourite) one came over from australia and we get on amazingly well, so as he was there we got to have a major catch up! We then went off to my aunties for the rest of the day as we usually do and played just dance two on the wii(I'm going to have to get that, it's so good! - I've got it now!) Me and my "favourite" cousin, had a dance off on that game, and I totally owned him, LOL!   Then we just chilled out and had a bit of something for tea and it was pretty yummy. Oh, and so was pudding! - Chocolate Yule Log.. Mmmmm! :) For the rest of the night.. we had more dance off's on just dance two and I again, totally owned everyone- to be totally honest, haha!

On monday we had a re-play of boxing day! We went sledging in the morning with everyone and that was really cool, but then we got all chilly and headed for costa- the best decision ever! I had a creme brule latte and a caramel shortbread (it's christmas-  i can be naughty!) Then we went home and played on guess what... just dance 2!  It was a great night and later on, all my aunties and my mum asked me to do their eye make-up which was really cool, on two of them I had to do a dramatic eye, and an everyday look on the other two which was really good and they all loved their looks afterwards (: My little cousins also wanted to join in on the action and I did their eyes too!

Sorry this hasn't been a very beauty related post but I've been reading a few posts like this one and thought they were really nice as I like to see what other people do at christmas time!
Let me know, what you do?

NOTD: Barry M Nail Effects

I was actually scared to use this! I love the overall effect though even though i did mess up on one nail as i didn't apply it right.
I used Barry M Nail Paint in 273 Raspberry underneath and then quite obviously the Barry M 311 Nail Effect over the top.

As you can see on my index finger,it didn't apply very well but it doesn't look really bad.
I applied a top coat - Beauty UK in Clear however it was matte before I applied it and I kind of liked it. I may leave it next time,we'll see!

I love it:)

A Few Little Purchases...

001 - topshop face wipes: I needed some new face wipes and as I was in topshop I decided to pick some up. I'll let you all know how I get on with them! I'm thinking of doing a series where I'll test different cleansers, exfoliaters, eye make-up removers and face wipes and give my verdict on which ones I liked and which ones I didn't. What do you think? These were £2.50
002 - Romeo and Juliet: As I mentioned in my monday ramble last week, I am rather loved up with mr leonardo d'caprio! After watching this in english literature, I had to sneak it into my order off of amazon to get my hands on this for regular d'caprio time!
003 - topshop lip polishes: I love love love love these! I don't have any tinted lip conditioners and these are amazing, they're so moisterising and such beautiful colours, they come out quiet sheer however they do have a lot of pigmentation when built up - if that makes sense! These were £14.00 for the set and it consists of the colours - Chiffon,Cracker and Cherry Picker. However the price for them individually is £6, so this deal is pretty good! These don't seem to be in the normal line but are lovely colours. I want to get my hands on some more of these topshop lip polishes!
004 - A few nail varnishes: (L-R), The first one was free with shout magazine, and the only reason I brought it was because it was included in there, however it doesn't have a name or number. The second one is Barry M's Dusky Mauve and has purple holographic glitter in it, however there is not much of the glitter and as I have just found out, when applied to the nails you can't see the purple glitter very well at all. The third is Clear -No.3 from Beauty UK, I needed a new top coat and thought this would do for the while. The last one, is Barry M's Nail Effect, I'm sure everyone has heard about this one so I won't say anymore, except for I'm scared to try it!
005 - MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light/Medium: I told myself that I wasen't going to buy myself any MAC until after christmas except when I realised that I couldn't even live one day without this, so I had to get a replacment for my old one!

This Is what my lovely best friend got me for christmas...

she knows me very well!
if you haven't worked out what present number two is, they're strips of an eye look that you place on your eyes when shut and i think apply water or something and then your eyes come out with the eye look on them! So I'm very excited to try those out!

sorry this has been such a long post!
love you all,

NOTD

I will be posting something a little more interesting later on this week, but just thought I would share with you my nails today:)

Allure Nail Polish in shade 43. -these are Italian polishes and I got them in monopoli last year while I was in Italy. I got a few shades and they are really nice so if these are accessible to you,you might want to pick some up!

This is a caramel-nude colour. It is a lot more creamier than other nude nail polishes I have, such as models own nude beige. It also has more of a sheen to it.

However,it is very soft once on the nails so takes ages to properly dry and till hard on the nails.

What nail polish have you been sporting this week?

6daaaaays!

HG foundation: MAC Studio Fix Fluid

I feel bad that before christmas I'm spending money on myself, but I couldn't live without my MAC Studio Fix Fluid! I had it in NW20 back in October but now as my skin is so pale, I went and brought it in NC15. My dad didn't seem too happy about me spending £19 on a foundation two weeks before Christmas, but to be honest it's all my skin likes!
I have tried my hardest to use every other foundation that I own but it's just not the same!

I'm out so I can't take a picture of my own but here is the exact same one as mine.

I like to apply it with a sponge as I find it goes on more smoothly with that and I get a better finish. However I know that my dad has brought me The MAC 187 for christmas and I have an elf powder brush on order so I'm looking forward to trying it out with these.

I tried so hard to go back to my MAC Studio Sculpt but I felt that that collected on the dry areas of my face. I then tried to use Revlon Colourstay for a while,Gosh's X-ceptional foundation and none of these did it for me so I just went back and brought a new one but in a shade lighter as I noticed that I was looking a tad orange!

I like to set this with my newly founded and very much loved- Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. I only have the tester but I'm going to have to purchase the full size because I'm in love with it so so so much! It adds to the perfect finish that the foundation gives and makes my skin look ultra smooth but also matte.

My only problem with this and it really doesn't bother me that much is that it seems to run out pretty fast as I brought it at the start of October and it had ran out by the middle of November. Maybe this is me being stingy but I love this so much that this over rides this problem. For £19,I couldn't ask for more except for a little bit more to come in the bottle than 30ml.

If you're looking for a new foundation and not sure which one to get,I would 100% get your hands on this one because I can guarantee unless you have extremely high expectations that this will fulfil you're foundation prospects.

It's Just So Classy

Is it just me or does everyone feel this way?
There is something extremely classy about a cold day,-preferably snow on the ground- and a take-away coffee cup in the hands of a woman?

I just think it is so ultra classy! I've been having takeaway gingerbread lattes from costa recently and I feel like its something a new-yorker would do as it just makes me feel so powerful!

If i'm talking nonsense then please let me know! But for me this is a good feeling <3 This most probably didn't deserve it's own post but I promise there will be some makeup related posts up this next week. Thank you!

Why don't I love them!?!

Nude lipsticks and me just don't click! I have four of the things and only one of them suits me and it's not really a nude!
I've really tried to love them but it just doesn't happen, I don't know why?
These are the four I own..

from left to right:
MAC Myth, MAC (? miscellaneous), Gosh Darling and ELF natural nymph. All of these are beautiful colours, however they just never look right on me. Whether it's because I think I look like a right tart! or the fact that I just don't suit nudes! Brighter colours just look so much better on me.
However, the lipstick second from the left-the MAC one actually works! This MAC lipstick is discontinued and I got it from Bicester CCO. Sadly, most of the letters have rubbed off the bottom of the lipstick so i don't actually know the colour name. This is a lustre lipstick which is my favourite finish to a lipstick. As you can see,the colour is a lot pinkier than the rest, that it is nearly not even a nude at all!
Can any of you recommend some colours that are more pinky shade nudes? Like the one above? Do any of you have trouble wearing nudes as well or am I alone!

A bit of a change around..

Some of you may have noticed, In the post I have just put up,I signed it 'gingerbread beauty' this is because i've changed the name of my blog as the common 'makeup addict' just wasn't cutting it!

I'm going to be changing a few things around on my blog so please bear with me while this is in-process!
For example-the title of my blog still says makeup addict and so on. I'm also going to be adding a few bits to my blog and hopefully make it look more welcoming :')

As always, thank you for reading'!
